I've been living in Dubai since 2008, and over the years I've made many of the same decisions you're trying to make now — where to live, who to hire, what to buy, which service providers are actually worth it, and how to avoid expensive mistakes.

The truth is, I don't make decisions particularly well until I've researched them to death.

A move. A car. A holiday. A wedding vendor. A restaurant for an anniversary dinner. Even a salon.

My brain needs to see everything laid out in front of me — the options, the pricing, the pros, the cons, and the catches nobody mentions until it's too late. Once I can see the full picture, the noise disappears and the decision becomes easy.

For years, friends and family would come to me whenever they were facing one of those bigger decisions. Not because I was an expert, but because I'd already done the digging. The calls. The comparisons. The endless spreadsheets. The questions nobody thinks to ask.

Eventually enough people said the same thing:

"You know people would actually pay for this, right?"

The Shortlist is what happened when I finally listened.

At its core, it's the same thing I've always done: helping people cut through the noise and get to a decision faster — whether that's moving to Dubai, planning a trip, furnishing a home, choosing a service provider, or simply figuring out where to start.

Whatever I work on, I do it properly. Not because it's a job, but because I genuinely care about getting it right.

This isn't a side hustle dressed up as a passion.
It's a passion that happened to become a business.
